POLICE RECRUIT
The police department salary range for a recruit is $35,630 to $37,918. Applicants must meet the
minimum standards required for certification by the Alaska Police Standards Council. Minimum education level is
an Associates Degree from an accredited institution. Finalists will be required to attend a training academy in
Alaska. Those with prior experience whose certification has lapsed may be eligible for a two-week short course.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Soldotna Police Department serves a population base of 4,134 with an additional 20,000 in the summertime
months, as well as 15,000 into the city during business hours. The Department has a strength of 12 sworn positions,
1 full time and 1 half time clerk. Dispatch is provided by the Alaska State Troopers and jail facilities
are provided by the State of Alaska approximately 10 miles away.
